Owl Backstrap Heddle or complete Kit

Owl Backstrap Heddle or complete Kit

PriceFrom $39.99

These cute backstrap looms are the too cute not to want to weave up a new band on.  This listing is for the loom only in the specified patterns available.  It comes with a poly finish and is ready to use with your favorite backstrap pattern.    Not sure what to start with? Get the 9 short slot. With it you can make bands for 5, 7 and 9 pattern threads. To go with it, I highly recommend Susan J. Foulkes' book "Weaving Patterned Bands" for beginners. It has great information to get you started. (a wonderful customer suggested the line above :) )

This heddle is approx 9.25x7 inches and is 1/4" thick.

Choose just the heddle w/shuttle or choose the kit.

The kit comes with the following:
1 - adjustable backstrap
1 - Band Lock
1 - heddle - 1/4" thick solid wood
1 - Sami sword shuttle
1 - rug shuttle
1-Weaving Needle
1 - back beam
2- warp sticks
1 - draw string carry bag

In the set I've included everything except the tie cord for the back beam, you can use a shoe lace, ribbon or just some yarn for this.

I have not included on how to weave but have included instructions on how to warp your new loom. You can find a wealth of information on band weaving, Sami weaving and backstrap weaving on YouTube. The instructions are digital and will be a sent to your email address once you've made your purchase.
Here is a great beginners article. https://backstrapweaving.wordpress.com/backstrap-basics-an-article-from-weavezine-by-laverne-waddington/

Books I recommend are:
Norwegian Pick-Up Bandweaving by Heather Torgenrud
Susan Faulker has a few really great books you can get them as digital versions rather inexpensively as well as the hard covers. Her blog is here https://durhamweaver64.blogspot.com/ and she is another great source for pattern weaving.
The Durham Weaver is a great source for band weaving. This video demonstrates the double hole heddle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qynTGaBZycw&fbclid=IwAR3NoiDZoAtIcfrlpjO3TfOlZIJKuasxjBI6kokFAHMYwFj1a6R7yt2DQm4
